Lithuanian Tatars celebrated Kurban bairam at the Subartonys village community house

We must be proud of our ancestral roots and not be afraid to present ourselves in society as practitioners of the Muslim faith (Islam).

On August 1, 2020, during the second day of the celebration of Eid ul-Adha (Kurban bairam), the chairman of LMRBT-Muftiate Mufti A. Beganskas, together with Mrs. L. Gaidukevičienė celebrated the Tatar traditional Kurban bairam festival at the Subartonys village community house.

Mrs. L. Gaidukevičienė is the chairman of the Varėna district Tatar community and the initiator of the unique Lithuanian Tatar museum.

At the event, Mufti A. Beganskas emphasized that cultural and religious activities are compatible and strongly recommended for celebrating such traditional celebrations in communities. Mufti A. Beganskas reminded us that we must be proud of our ancestral roots and not be afraid to present ourselves in society as practitioners of the Muslim faith (Islam). Mufti A. Beganskas wished all those gathered a great holiday and presented a gift for the Lithuanian Tartar Museum, an extract from the birth book signed by Imam A. Chaleckas and stamped by the Mahometan rectory Mosque of the Raižiai.
